Beta Group #13 at the Mirano

I attended last Wednesday the Beta Group #13 @ Mirano Brussels. It was great to meet an impressive number of internet entrepreneurs in a place that was a bit trendier than the usual ULB Campus. It was at the same time the opening of “Le café numérique” that will be held each Wednesday.
As usual, 5 start-ups presented their project:
- Getyoo: See description below
- Spezzle: Planning tool that helps you or your customers make Drupal site specifications that will require minimal custom coding. You can use the system to enhance the communication between end-user and developers and at the same time collect materials that can be reused in future projects.
- WonderGraphs: Tool to easily create graphs.
- Babelway: Babelway B2B integration Software-as-a-Service allows organizations to automate cross-company processes and enables the secure exchange of business documents.
- Symbioz: Geolocation application in real time via Android mobile phone GPS. The data are stored on servers, which allow finding your path but also your speed and altitude.
Next to that, we also had the occasion to see a presentation of the Microsoft Surface through a real case study: The Belgian Beer Café. Check the video, it was fun to see a typical Belgian application running on the MS Surface.
Amongst the 5 presentation, I’ll remember, Getyoo who had a great success, mainly because the presentation was really well done.
Getyoo is a web platform that enables each user to collect and send social information whether public or private through a kind of USB key. It’s a similar concept to “poken”. For 27 €, one can purchase a “clickey” which is the name of the device and by simply clicking on it towards a sticker or another “clickey”, you get or send information. Although the presentation was brilliant, I’m not so sure that yet another device will not represent a barrier for massive adoption, I’d love this technology to be embedded in my mobile phone. For more details, see the video.
