Debriefing the Netlog brand day
Friday, April 3rd, 2009 | New (ways of using) Media | 1 Comment

I followed the first Netlog’s brand and developer day and it was quite interesting to see how much Netlog is a vector of great innovative brand initiatives. My favorite: Snickers!
Toon Coppens (CTO and co-founder of Netlog) opened the session with a Netlog presentation by, followed by Inge Wiame (Business Developer-Netlog) on ”the power of the brand page”. She highlighted really well the importance to have a brand page, to be visible and to create integrated campaigns and contest on your brand page because it’s works! Young people love to share skins, videos, pictures so don’t hesitate to be creative.
To be kept in mind: Netlog platform + your creativity = success.

After that, Dimitri De Lauw (strategic planning director at These Days) and Patricia Demoustiez (Online Sales & Marketing Manager Benelux at Nokia) presented the Nokia Supernova case. Nokia launched the Supernova to raise awareness, start a new range of stylish handset. The principle: our lives are in our phones. They wanted the users to follow the soap on Netlog. A brand need to stay permanently connected with the users and Nokia give them all the necessary tools to customize their devices, share videos and pictures and tell where they are and what they do. Netlog offer the possibility to stay in touch with their audience.
To be kept in mind: importance of the moderation when launching social media actions (Nokia invested one hour per day on moderation during the campaign)

After a “short” one hour break, Folke Lemaitre (VP Engineering at Netlog) and Pieterjan Bouten (Business Development Manager at Netlog) continued on several aspects such as applications development, social games, open social
and Credit Economy.
To be kept in mind: What I found most interesting is the new ways brands can reward their fans for putting them forward.

To finish the day, we viewed the last (but not least!) case: Snickers. To create a strong link between the brand and users, Snickers offered to win a tank adventures, check it out.
To be kept in mind: Always seek user’s feedback, and Netlog’s guest book is a perfect way of collecting feedback
