Last Friday Session of the Year + X-mas drink!

Monday, December 28th, 2009 | cleverwood Friday Afternoon Session | No Comments

FAS_JNOLast Friday, despite the snow and a difficult access to the office, Jurgen Noel came to speak about his job and particularly about how to make a good campaign younger generations and Digital Natives.  He showed us the various steps and his tips to reach the young generation on the web and social media. He illustrated this with his recent experiences in the banking sector at ING on social media such as Netlog or Facebook. I personally will remember that we should not try to speak like them because we aren’t like them! The tone of voice that will be chosen in a media campaign targeting teenagers is really important.

After the session, we opened the FAMOUS magnum of Champagne (thank you Marie!), a few other bottles, and some newTree chocolate (thank you Jérôme!) to thank everyone for the great collaboration in 2009 and wish the consultants an excellent holiday period. We posted a few pictures on flickR and Facebook.

Are our politicians 2.0 minded?

Monday, June 8th, 2009 | cleverwood Friday Afternoon Session | 2 Comments

Whether our politicians are 2.0 minded or not, the answer is definitely NO!
They are maybe present on Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and DailyMotion, but do they really know how it works and how to make an asset out of it?

fas_20090605Geoffrey Laloux, E-Business Strategist & Project Manager at Synaptic came to to review and discuss the online presence of the various parties and politicians. The conclusion is definitely that even though there is a online presence for some of them, most of the time this is definitely not in a 2.0 format.

This was followed by a very interesting debate between the various consultants present at the Friday session.

If you missed the session, no problem: you’ll find the entire presentation as well as the pictures on Flickr.

For more information, I also invite you to read the article by Bernad Demonty “Twitter, le pays du gazouilli politique” and the analysis realized by LBi and recently published in Le Soir.

I followed the first Netlog’s brand and developer day and it was quite interesting to see how much Netlog is a vector of great innovative brand initiatives. My favorite: Snickers!

Toon Coppens (CTO and co-founder of Netlog) opened the session with a Netlog presentation by, followed by Inge Wiame (Business Developer-Netlog) on  ”the power of the brand page”. She highlighted really well the importance to have a brand page, to be visible and to create integrated campaigns and contest on your brand page because it’s works! Young people love to share skins, videos, pictures so don’t hesitate to be creative.

To be kept in mind: Netlog platform + your creativity = success.

After that, Dimitri De Lauw (strategic planning director at These Days) and Patricia Demoustiez (Online Sales & Marketing Manager Benelux at Nokia) presented the Nokia Supernova case. Nokia launched the Supernova to raise awareness, start a new range of stylish handset. The principle: our lives are in our phones. They wanted the users to follow the soap on Netlog. A brand need to stay permanently connected with the users and Nokia give them all the necessary tools to customize their devices, share videos and pictures and tell where they are and what they do. Netlog offer the possibility to stay in touch with their audience.

To be kept in mind: importance of the moderation when launching social media actions (Nokia invested one hour per day on moderation during the campaign)

After a “short” one hour break, Folke Lemaitre (VP Engineering at Netlog) and Pieterjan Bouten (Business Development Manager at Netlog) continued on several aspects such as applications development, social games, open social

and Credit Economy.

To be kept in mind: What I found most interesting is the new ways brands can reward their fans for putting them forward.

To finish the day, we viewed the last (but not least!) case: Snickers. To create a strong link between the brand and users, Snickers offered to win a tank adventures, check it out.

To be kept in mind: Always seek user’s feedback, and Netlog’s guest book is a perfect way of collecting feedback
